July 31st These
pictures were taken on July 31, 2006. They
show the state of the Sanatorium Covered Bridge
prior to the reconstruction. The bridge has
been closed for a number of years and has fallen
into disrepair. The bridge is supported by
cribbing on the east and west ends due to a broken
arch on the south side of the bridge. The
floor of the bridge is warped and many of the posts
are also in need of replacement.
The first picture is of the west end of the
bridge.

August 2nd
The reconstruction project began on July 30, 2008.
The project began by removing trees in the
right-of-way so the work crews could reach the
bridge. The construction crew found damage
which required temporary supports to the frame.
The crew then began removal of the siding and roofing.
